GoodAccess delivers business critical applications to the point of business, increasing sales and service productivity, improving customer responsiveness, and increasing business performance. GoodAccess uses the same secure AES encrypted transport layer used by GoodLink to connect mobile professionals to enterprise applications residing behind the firewall.

With GoodAccess, mobile professionals take advantage of a powerful, intuitive user experience that optimizes enterprise information for the handheld while retaining workflows, navigation, and familiar features including:

  • Multitasking. GoodAccess queues information requests requiring communication to the backend system. Background processing allows users to proceed with other activities such as responding to email and downloading attachments.
  • Offline capability. Users can save and view information when offline or out of coverage.
  • Folder structures. Users can organize information according to their individual preferences. Customized categorization enables quick access to information.

  • Advanced end-to-end security. As with GoodLink, the GoodAccess platform provides AES encryption, SSL, advanced password security, and the ability to remotely erase Good applications and data if a handheld is lost or stolen.
  • Secure Over The Air (Secure OTA™) administration. Secure OTA management enables IT to setup, update, and push Good applications as well as other third party applications to handhelds wirelessly—IT never touches the device, users never part with it.
  • Industry standards-based integration.  To support mobilization of a wide array of backend systems, GoodAccess supports integration through industry standard approaches like web services, ODBC, and XSLT.

Long Live Industry Standards
GoodLink™ 4.0 supports the handhelds and mobile platforms that enterprises want. Today, we’re focused on the Treo and Pocket PC handheld families. During 2005, we expect to offer support for Nokia products on the Symbian platform. All of these are based on industry standards with two big advantages.

  • Choice. Industry standards allow far more product innovation and choice. Today there are two Treo models and many Pocket PCs supported by GoodLink, and the number will only increase according to customer needs and device evolution.
  • Flexibility. Industry-standard platforms provide the application choices that prevent vendor lock-in.

The Problem with Proprietary Platforms  
As a proprietary solution, BlackBerry offers limited product support for industry standard-based platforms and devices. This means that to get the complete BlackBerry solution, users are limited to just one platform (Blackberry). With BlackBerry, users have to make compromises between the highest-level of functionality or device choice.

GoodLink 4.0 was designed to ensure the highest level of protection for even the most security-conscious customers, including large financial service firms, security software firms, and federal government agencies.

  • Role-Based Administration. GoodLink 4.0 has it. BlackBerry doesn’t. Without RBA, there’s an inherent trade-off between security and TCO: If more administrators have Global privileges, the enterprise is less secure. But if privileges are given to few administrators, the enterprise will be paying senior IT managers to do menial tasks, such as handheld provisioning.
